Read More The main objective of this study is to identify the impact of visual media on the spread of domestic violence in the Kurdistan Region. This research is a field study conducted on a sample of fourth-year students from the Departments of Media and Sociology at Salahaddin University. The study is descriptive in nature and adopts the survey method, using a data collection tool (a questionnaire) to determine the impact of visual media on the spread of domestic violence in the Kurdistan Region. The population of the study consists of all students of Salahaddin University – College of Arts, while the study sample includes fourth-year students from the Departments of Media and Sociology at Salahaddin University, selected through simple random sampling, with a total of (70) students. The study is composed of three sections. The first section is the methodology of the study, which includes the methodological procedures, previous studies, and the definition of key terms related to the research. The second section is the theoretical framework of the study, consisting of two main parts: the first part focuses on visual media, while the second part addresses domestic violence. The third section of the study is the practical framework, in which the responses of the study sample to the questionnaire items are presented, in addition to testing the research hypotheses, which consist of two hypotheses. In the conclusion of the study, the most important findings, recommendations, and proposals related to the responses of the study sample are presented. This is followed by the list of references, appendices, and an abstract of the study in English. Among the most significant findings reached by this study are that some programs and content within visual media in the Kurdistan Region constitute a factor contributing to the spread of domestic violence, which is inconsistent with the nature of family life. Visual media has contributed more to family disintegration than to family cohesion.

Read More This study explores the duality of presence and absence as a central concept in literary and critical thought, with extensions in ancient Arab heritage and contemporary critical approaches. It begins by tracing the roots of this duality among ancient Arab critics such as al-Jahiz and al-Ruqashi, who alluded to it in their discussion of word and meaning, or present and absent, as two concepts representing levels of communication between speaker and listener. Or between the text and the recipient. The research also examines the transformation of the meaning of these two terms among Sufis, particularly in the writings of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi, where presence becomes a spiritual state of consciousness, and absence becomes an expression of annihilation in the truth. In modern criticism, presence is framed as a central authority that grants the text its meaning, while absence is understood as a semantic ambiguity or lapse that allows for reinterpretation and openness to the possibilities of meaning. The research then moves on to examine how the duality of presence and absence manifests itself in poetic texts, examining concepts such as formation (as presence) and significance (as absence). It draws on the works of Ferdinand de Saussure to understand the relationship between signifier and signified, and how linguistic presence transforms into semantic absence. It emphasizes that the aesthetic function of poetry is not complete without a dynamic interaction between what is said and what is concealed, between what is linguistically constructed and what is semantically implied. The applied section of the research is devoted to analyzing the poems of the Kirkuk group, as they represent a prominent example of employing this duality. It relies on a cultural criticism approach to extract the underlying patterns in their texts, particularly in relation to the political and social context. The poems of Salah Faiq, Sargon Boulus, and Fadhil Al-Azzawi demonstrate that texts that appear formal or symbolic on the surface conceal a sharp critique of authority and reality. Where institutions of governance and oppression are present, while the values of justice, freedom and dignity are absent.
