Abstract
The present study aimed to examine the relationship between social interaction and emotion regulation among students in the kindergarten departments of Kurdistan Regional Universities. An additional objective was to assess the levels of both variables—social interaction and emotion regulation—within the study sample. The study also investigated potential differences in these variables based on academic stage (first year vs. fourth year). The sample consisted of 417 students enrolled in kindergarten departments. Following the establishment of sound psychometric properties, the researcher developed two instruments to measure the study variables. The results indicated that participants demonstrated high levels of both social interaction and emotion regulation. A statistically significant difference in social interaction was found between first- and fourth-stage students (p < .05), with higher levels observed in the fourth stage. However, no significant difference was found between the two stages in terms of emotion regulation. Additionally, a strong positive correlation was identified between social interaction and emotion regulation (p < .01).
In light of these findings, some recommendations and suggestion were highlighted.
