Abstract
Abstract
The primary objective of this research is to evaluate and analyze the media discourse surrounding the 'My Account' (Hejmari Mn) initiative. Specifically, it examines how the websites of Rudaw and Channel 8 frame this project as a financial and political issue. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method with a content analysis approach to examine the nature and framing of media content related to this issue. A purposive, non-random sampling technique was applied, using a comprehensive survey (census) approach to analyze all news stories and articles published on both websites between May and December 2024. The research sample consists of 88 media items (including news, reports, interviews, live coverage, and photo stories) related to Hejmari Mn and its implications.
The study reached several conclusions, most notably: The websites of both Rudaw and Channel 8 approached Hejmari Mn primarily through a lens of conflict, utilizing a conflict frame in their coverage. Furthermore, both outlets failed to maintain objectivity and balance in their reporting. Additionally, both websites demonstrated a lack of detailed information, relying instead on a superficial and hasty approach in their coverage.
